A Japanese American history simulation in Minecraft

You receive a message that says, “February 19, 1942: Executive Order 9066 has just been signed. You will report to your designated camp immediately.” You log into the Minecraft HistoryCraft server and teleport to the Manzanar War Relocation Authority (WRA) camp. You are joined in your Minecraft camp by other students on your team. Students from other teams will simultaneously be incarcerated in one of the other camps as you all await further news about how to proceed in the simulation.

WHAT IS HISTORYCRAFT™
HistoryCraft™ is an immersive, transmedia, multiplayer simulation that allows students to internalize the experience of Japanese Americans living in World War II incarceration camps.

The simulation takes place inside a Minecraft 3D world that contains replicas of each of the 10 WRA camps, each of which is populated by a team of students.

HistoryCraft™ is designed for students (middle school to college) to learn about the Japanese American incarceration experience and the various civics and humanities themes related to this history.

HistoryCraft™ is 100% free and is supported by a grant from the California Civil Liberties Public Education Program.
